A practical, hopeful approach to moving forward
Solution-Focused Therapy is a practical, collaborative approach that focuses on what you want to change and how you can move towards it.
When life feels difficult, it’s easy to become caught up in what has gone wrong, why things are this way or what you could have done differently. While understanding your experiences can be important, Solution-Focused Therapy also asks: What would you like to be different?
Together, we explore what you would like life to look and feel like, and what would tell you that things are beginning to change.
Looking for what is already working
Solution-Focused Therapy recognises that you already have strengths, skills, and resources that can help you move forward, even if they're hard to see when you’re overwhelmed.
We might explore times when things have felt a little easier, when you’ve handled something differently or when things have gone better than expected. These moments can give us clues about what helps and what you might be able to build on.
Small steps can make a difference
We can create a clearer picture of the future you would prefer and explore what you might notice if things were beginning to improve.
Sometimes we might use simple questions, the miracle question or scaling to turn a big or overwhelming goal into smaller, realistic steps.
It’s not about pretending everything is okay or changing everything at once. It’s about noticing what is working, recognising your strengths and finding small ways forward.
Working together
Solution-Focused Therapy is collaborative. You are the expert in your own life, and I’m not here to tell you what you should do.
I’m here to listen, ask questions that help you see things differently and work alongside you to find what could help.
Sometimes you need space to understand what’s happening. Sometimes you’re ready to think about what happens next.
You may not know exactly what needs to change yet. That’s okay. We can start there.
